At this info session, Assistant Director for Fellowships, Dr. Erica Kowsz, will give an overview of the opportunities available, including fellowships for graduate study in the UK, Ireland, China, and more! Students from all class years are welcome to attend. We will meet on Monday April 25 at 4:30pm in Fisk 201 for snacks, a short presentation, and plenty of time for Q&A!

Below are some upcoming events and important dates to keep in mind:
Adjustment (through 4/19): Now that preregistration is over, we enter the Adjustment period for Fall 2022 course selection. For helpful hints on how to approach adjustment, utilize this guide here. Still have questions? Be sure to chat with your premajor advisor – they can offer a wealth of knowledge on many of the questions associated with course selection. You can also reach out to an Academic Peer Advisor or schedule an appointment with me.
Course Withdrawal Deadline (4/27): Wednesday, April 27 is the last day to withdraw from full semester and 4th quarter classes.
Wes Day (5/5 from 12pm – 5pm): WesDay is a great opportunity to interact with the entire campus community. In addition to free ice cream and tie dye, we’ll enjoy carnival rides, games, wellness activities and novelties such as stuff-a-bear and pot your own succulent plant. Fried dough, popcorn, and cotton candy provided at no charge to attendees. Students and faculty will perform music all afternoon at the base of Foss Hill.
Athletic Events: Many of our spring athletic teams are rounding out their seasons – be sure to catch a home game! Click here for schedules.
WesNest: As I often share, there are so many events, programs, plays, and opportunities to take advantage of posted on our WesNest engagement platform here. I challenge you to take a peek at some of the events offered in the next few weeks and attend something you’ve never participated in before – who knows, you might find a new interest with this small action!

Who likes a good count down? As of yesterday (4/5), we officially hit the four-week mark until the last day of spring semester classes. Everything you’ve worked so hard on this semester is coming together. Keep up the great work!
Here are some upcoming events/dates that may be of interest:
- Well Being Wednesday (WBW) – Everyone can benefit from learning about ways to support well-being. Well-Being Wednesday (WBW) is a weekly virtual workshop on various well-being topics. Each workshop will involve a combination of elements including presentation/lectures, videos/TedTalks, Do-It-Yourself activities, and trivia. Register here to receive the virtual link for each Well-Being Wednesday session.
- Wes Day (5/5 from 12pm – 5pm) – WesDay is a great opportunity to interact with the entire campus community. - Pre-Registration: Pre-registration for Fall 2022 course selection began on 3/29 and runs through 4/11. Be sure to visit the Registrar’s page to review resources such as the Student User Guide to Pre-Registration and more to help you maximize course selection. If you haven’t yet, be sure to connect with your pre-major advisor to discuss your anticipated course load.

Apply to be a Peer Advisor, New Student Orientation (NSO) Peer Advisor, or a Peer Technology Specialist and provide peer academic support with SAR!
You do not need to be an expert; you only need a desire to learn and an aspiration to help your peers! Currently accepting applications for:
APAs are a resource to students during Orientation regarding the course registration process, and throughout the year they provide support related to improving academic skills and Wes student systems, such as WesPortal and Moodle.
Peer Technology Specialists help Wes students to learn how to use digital tools like dictation, text-to-speech, and Google calendar to increase productivity and improve their learning strategies.
New Student Orientation (NSO) Peer Advisors work during NSO to assist incoming students with schedule planning, preparation for faculty advisor meetings, and support participation in other Orientation activities.

I hope this post finds you well. We are at a point in the semester where your classes may start to feel a bit tougher, the weather isn’t getting warm quickly enough, and we can’t pull our eyes away from the updates on the Ukraine/Russia crisis. As always, please remember there are many supports in place on campus to help you with whatever challenges you face and whatever you may be feeling. - Gathering in Community for Ukraine – today, Wednesday, 3/2 at 4:30pm in Smith Reading Room (Olin Library). Olin Library and Student Affairs will co-sponsor an opportunity to come together in community around the recent events in Ukraine. We will hold space for sharing, listening, and being together. This gathering is intended to complement the various discussions being sponsored by faculty as well as the planned rally on Friday afternoon outside of Usdan.

- Metacognition Workshops – today, Wednesday 3/2 and next Wednesday, 3/9 at 6:00pm in Usdan 108. Today’s topic focuses on implementing effective study and learning strategies. Next week’s topic focuses on reflection of the academic skills you’ve developed.

First Things First
No matter whether you participated in First Things First Pre-Orientation, we invite FGLI students from all class years to come together for the First Things First: Next Steps series!
Our next session, Fresh Start, is TODAY, MONDAY (February 14th) from 4:30-5:30pm in The Resource Center! Did Fall term not unfold as gracefully as you hoped? Are you hoping to “get on track” for Spring? We will reflect on how to carry forward lessons from last semester, and how to build on these in ways that serve us and show ourselves care in the months ahead. We will review resources we vaguely remember hearing about once upon a time, and we will discuss how to move into 2022 with a sense of positive possibility. A fresh start.

Student Ombuds
The Student Ombuds at Wesleyan are available to talk with students about their concerns related to experiences in the classroom, with their athletic team, or within other parts of their academic and campus life at Wesleyan. Each Ombud serves as a neutral and confidential* peer resource focused on empowering students to successfully navigate the institution and advocate for themselves in moments of conflict, particularly when there are power dynamic considerations. Although separate from the University’s Ombudsperson for staff and faculty, the Student Ombuds use similar conflict resolution and restorative justice practices.
*The Student Ombuds stand with survivors of sexual misconduct, though they do not serve as a confidential resource for these matters. If you need confidential support related to sexual misconduct, please reach out to SHAPE, CAPS, Office of Religious and Spiritual Life.
